On Tuesday, April 15th  Phoenixville Area High School was lucky enough to host former President Bill Clinton, and Governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell! The stop was one of many for Clinton, who is traveling around Pennsylvania campaigning for his wife, Hillary. The rally took place in the gymnasium around 1 o’clock pm. Juniors and Seniors were invited to the event, and sat in the bleachers, while teachers, school board members, and other people from the public sat in the middle. Ed Rendell introduced Bill Clinton, and showed his support for Hillary, saying that it’s time for a “Madame President.”

Clinton began his speech by pointing out that when he was the president in the 90’s it was a time of peace and prosperity.  Hillary could bring us back to that time.  Clinton’s speech addressed many important issues facing the United States today, such as health care, education, the environment, and the war in Iraq. He explained how Hillary would go about tackling these problems, and encouraged the audience to vote for her. After his speech was over, Bill Clinton took time to shake the hands of many students and faculty (myself included!). The students were very well-behaved, and seemed excited to be at the rally. Regardless of whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, seeing a President of the United States is a definitely a once-in-a lifetime experience!
