First National Bank of Chester County Teaches kids to save their money

First National Bank of Chester County brings Savings lessons to Schuylkill Elementary

First National Bank of Chester County taught first-grade students of Schuylkill Elementary School the importance of saving their pennies, quarters and dollars during “National Teach kids to Save Day,” on April 29.

“The event went really well,” said Phoenixville Branch Manager Daniel Marovich. “It was my first year participating in the event and look forward to even more Phoenixville classes next year.”

Mr. Marovich and FNB’s branch operations coordinator Holly Gartin started the “mini-seminar” by reading a book, Arthur’s Funny Money, a story about Arthur and his little sister Violet and their adventure in earning money to buy Arthur a hat and tee-shirt and to help Violet learn to solve number problems.

The students drew pictures of things they wanted to save money for, including toys, games, pools and even college!

First National Bank of Chester County, which has a branch at 700 Nutt Road, inside the Giant Grocery Store, is committed to educating children on the importance of saving at an early age.

“It is a great time for everyone involved,” said Mr. Marovich. “Our message to everyone is not that you have to have an account at a particular bank, but the importance of having a bank account in general.”
