SPECIAL NOTICE: USE OF VIDEO/ AUDIO MONITORS ON SCHOOL BUSES

School bus routes may be part of a video monitoring program aimed at improving student discipline and bus safety

Student behavior and the driver’s management of that behavior are key elements in ensuring that students experience safe and enjoyable bus rides. The video monitoring program will involve the installation and utilization of a video camera to record the behavior of the students and the bus driver’s methods of managing student behavior.

The bus will have a special box installed in the front which can house a video camera. If there is a student behavior problem, the tape will be reviewed by the school district and / or designated bus contractor employees. Discipline infractions will be referred to the student’s principal, who will view the video and inform the students of the behavior infraction. Students and their parents may be required to view the video. A copy of the Phoenixville Area School District policy titled "VIDEO / AUDIO MONITORS ON SCHOOL BUSES” is available for review at your child’s principal’s office or by contacting the district transportation office.

The system will be fully operational starting on March 31, 2008

If you have any questions concerning this program, please contact the Transportation Office at 484-927-5026, or your child’s principal.
