On Monday, December 4, 2006 the Tax Study Commission recommended the following wording to the Board of School Directors for the May 2007 ballot question:
Do you favor imposing an additional 1% Earned Income Tax? The revenue generated from the new tax will be used to reduce taxes on qualified residential properties by $462 in 2007, and $770 in subsequent tax years.
This recommendation was based on information reviewed by the Tax Study Commission during their meetings and input gathered from the Public Forum, held November 20th, 2006 on Act 1. The recommendation of an additional 1% Earned Income Tax is the minimum level allowed under Act 1 of 2006.
