March, 2010

  From the Principal’s Desk

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

The month of March begins with the celebration of reading.  Guest readers will visit the classrooms on Tuesday, March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss, to read to the Kindergarten students.  If possible, please have your child wear his/her Kindergarten T-shirt.  To encourage lifelong readers, we ask that you set aside time at night for a family reading time and remember:

                                    The more that you read,

the more things you will know.

                                    The more that you learn,

                                    the more places you’ll go.

                                                                        Dr. Seuss

Special thanks to Mrs. April Skomsky for arranging the story time at Barnes and Noble on Monday evening, February 22nd.  It was a wonderful opportunity to “warm up to a good book” with the Principal and teachers as the guest readers.  This is a great way to support reading and our Home & School fund raiser.

Remember to have your students here “on time” for school.  Kindergarten begins at 8:30 A.M. for the AM and full-day classes, and 12:30 P.M. for the PM classes.  It is important to establish good attendance habits right from the beginning of school.  If your child is absent, you need to send a written excuse when he/she returns to school (list teacher, session, child’s name, reason for absence).  If we do not receive a note within three days of your child returning to school, they will be marked “unlawful” for the absence.

Once again, thank you for all you do to make the Kindergarten Program a successful one.

                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Mrs. Karen W. Coldwell
