Four Parts to the Program

The instrumental music education program consists of FOUR parts:

1. SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION
Students attend a small group lesson for 30 minutes every week with their assigned music teacher. This focuses on the foundations of tone production, music reading, and technical skills.

2. INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE
Learning an instrument is a development of fine motor skills. The only way to get better at something is to practice. During their small group lessons, students will learn about the most effective way to practice and get better on their own!

3. LARGE ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS
The large band and orchestra rehearsal is where students learn the “team” concept of music: cooperative learning comes together in full force for students to participate in the creation of art.

4. PUBLIC PERFORMANCES
Being able to perform for an audience – and appreciate performances – is an important aspect of being a musician.
