The Phoenixville Area School District is located in beautiful Chester County, bordering historic Valley Forge National Park. The District includes the Borough of Phoenixville, East Pikeland Township, and Schuylkill Township. Once a major steel town, Phoenixville has experienced a rebirth in the past several years, and is a highly desirable place to live, appearing on multiple “Best of” lists. Community-centered events include First Fridays, The Blob Fest, Blues Festival, Farmers Market, and Dogwood Festival. A large number of non-profit organizations call Phoenixville home and provide a wide variety of services for the community and PASD families.
The Mission Statement “To prepare, inspire and graduate students to meet the challenges of the future, while we grow to become the educational hub of the community” is at the center of all decisions made by the School Board and Administration.
PASD proudly employs a staff of approximately 580 professionals and support professionals to serve over 4050 students in the Early Learning Center, three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. An additional elementary school will open in the 2025-2026 school year. The nine-member elected Board of School Directors works collaboratively with the administration, faculty and staff to ensure the highest quality education for every student.
All PASD students attend the Phoenixville Area Early Learning Center (PAELC) for Kindergarten and First Grade. Having all of our District students together for their beginning years ensures the best possible start for our youngest students. A rigorous academic program combined with time to “learn through play” provides a good balance for children. A School Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBIS) program teaches students expected school behaviors and helps to create a positive school climate where students can achieve success academically and socially. This program continues through elementary and middle school.
Our three elementary schools provide a rich curriculum for second through fifth grade, including core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, along with Music, Art, STEM, Physical Education, and Library. Extensive after school activities include Girls & Boys on the Run, Science Explorers, Ski Club, Reading Olympics, K-Kids and Lego Club.
At Phoenixville Area Middle School (PAMS), we believe the fundamental purpose of the middle school years are: EXPLORE a wide variety of possibilities, EXPOSE to opportunities, and DISCOVER new realities. A strong administrative team works with a dedicated and caring teaching staff in guiding students through these early adolescent years. Teachers work in teams to ensure consistency across the curriculum. Middle School students can choose between 45 different after school clubs and activities. A no-cut policy ensures every child has the opportunity to be a part of one of the 20 different sports teams at this level. An 8th Grade Play and Spring Spectacular Musical are also extremely popular and attract a large number of students.
Phoenixville Area High School offers a robust curriculum, a broad selection of elective courses, and activities and extra-curriculars to appeal to every student Nearly half of the 1271 students are enrolled in one or more of the twenty-three Advanced Placement (AP) courses. All students are required to complete a career project as part of their PAHS graduation requirements. The graduation project is a career-based portfolio consisting of eight (8) Career Exploration activities, which align with Pennyslvania’s Future Readiness Index state. Our student athletes are consistently recognized and honored for their performance both on the playing field and in the classroom. A robust arts program provides many offerings from elementary school through high school, including vocal music, band, strings, keyboard classes, and a wide variety of art classes. Our graduates attend some of the finest colleges and universities in the country, join various branches of the military, and enter the work force.
Phoenixville Area School District is the beneficiary of strong community bonds. The Phoenixville Community Education Foundation, Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce, Phoenixville YMCA, and the local government agencies are just a few of the major partnerships in place. The district has engaged the community in addressing the needs of all students, to ensure EVERY child has the opportunities he/she may need to succeed. We are committed to helping our students meet the challenges they face in the classroom and in life.
