Volunteer Clearances

Thank you for volunteering in the Phoenixville Area School District.  Please read all the information below to start your application process.

1.  If you have current clearances that are within the past five (5) years please click the volunteer application below to upload your documents and complete the online process.

PASD Volunteer Application

This PASD application MUST be submitted annually to be board approved as a volunteer.

The Volunteer Application for the 2019-2020 school year is currently open.  Once this application is complete, the board can approve you as a volunteer for the rest of this school year.


2.  If you have not obtained your clearances please: (a.) Follow the links below for the appropriate clearance level.  Please note you will need to save the documents on your computer.  You can upload, email or drop these documents to the Administration building.  (b.) Then click on the volunteer application above to begin the online process. Please note, Middle School and High School volunteers need to apply for at least a level 2 clearance.

Level Description Clearances Needed
Level I -

Assistive Volunteer
Any individual who voluntarily provides services to the school district, without compensation, and who: (1) works directly under the supervision and direction of a teacher or administrator employed by the district; and (2) does not provide direct services to students or have unsupervised contact with students. Examples of assistive volunteers may include homeroom parents/guardians, individuals who volunteer to assist in the planning or conducting of classroom celebrations, concert/performance ushers, and individuals who help manage, officiate or perform functions ancillary to an athletic event or
extracurricular activity.

Partially lndependent Volunteer
Any individual who voluntarily provides services to the school district, without compensation, and who: (1) works under the general direction and supervision of a teacher or administrator employed by the district; and (2) assists students or may, from time to time, have or may be reasonably expected to have unsupervised contact with a group of students. Examples of independent volunteers include volunteer tutors or mentors working in a classroom or being a
chaperone for daily field trips.

lndependent Volunteer
Any individual who voluntarily provides services to the school district, without compensation, and who: (1) chaperones overnight field trips, or who provides counseling or health related services to students, (2) works under the general direction and supervision of a coach or student activity sponsor employed by the district; and (3) directly supervises or instructs students engaged in the activity or may, from time to time, have or may be reasonably expected to have unsupervised contact with a student. Examples of volunteer coaches/sponsors include individuals who volunteer to serve as an overnight field trip chaperone, or on the coaching staff of an athletic team, volunteer athletic trainers or equipment managers, and choreographers, musicians and other individuals who provide instruction to students in the marching band or school musical. Athletic volunteers may work directly with student athletes on activities and techniques. While they are under the direction of a paid coaching staff, they may, on occasion, have direct contact with students in the absence of direct supervision of paid coaches. Tutors or mentors who work one-on-one with a student and are not directly supervised - that is working independently without a staff member or other adults present in the room.
