PASD Awarded $35,000 STEM GrantStatement from Dr. Alan Fegley:

I am pleased to announce that Phoenixville Area School District has received a $35,000 PAsmart Targeted Grant to expand Phoenixville Area High School’s computer science offerings. This grant will allow Phoenixville Area High School to enroll five teachers and administrators  in Computer Science For All curriculum training in Spring 2020, and Project Lead the Way training during the 2020-21 school year. As a result of this training, three new computer science courses will be offered to Phoenixville Area High School students during school year 2020-2021: Computer Science Essentials, and Cybersecurity, both offered through Project Lead the Way, and Digital Animation and Web Design. Computer Science Essentials will provide an entry point for computer science learners to gain an understanding of the essentials of computers, networks, programming, and computer support. Cybersecurity will build on experience provided in Computer Science Essentials and provide skills that can directly translate to future careers in a growing field. Some of the supplies and equipment necessary for these courses will be funded by the PAsmart Grant. I would like to thank Supervisor of Curriculum Jessica Kilmetz and Grant Writer Erica Klinedinst for their work on this grant.
