Attendance Expectations

Attendance Expectations in PASD Virtual Academy:

It is expected that students are logging regularly and are completing all assignments for the day. Given that the work is available online, and students are permitted to work ahead at a faster pace, they are encouraged to do so. This model of asynchronous learning on a virtual platform often allows for flexibility within a students’ activities from day to day.

If a student is missing assignments those assignments count as a 0% which ultimately effects the final grade if that work is not complete by the end of the semester.

PASD school counselors closely monitor grades and work completion of students. The school counselor will be in contact with the student if the grades and work completion rates are not positive.

If a student demonstrates failing grades and/or a lack of work completion, assignments that are not complete and the pacing demonstrates 10% behind in two or more classes for more than one week, a guardian will be contacted by the PASD school administrator.

Should lack of progress continue the student and parent will be contacted by counselor and a virtual meeting will be held with the student, parent, school counselor and administrator. The student will be given a warning and one week to complete missing assignments. If the student continues to demonstrate failing grades and lack of assignment completion the second meeting will result in removal from the virtual platform and a return to in-person learning.

PASD school counselors work closely with the BVA Student Advisor. The Student Advisor supports students who need assistance with time management and academics. Students are always encouraged to ask for support if needed.
