Recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Week

Recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Week
Recognizing Hunger and Homelessness WeekNovember 18-22 is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. As a district, we are coordinating efforts in all of our buildings to raise awareness and support families in our community who may be experiencing food insecurity or homelessness. We have numerous events planned for the week:

Red Shirt Day is Friday, November 22. We encourage all district families, students, and staff to wear red. A limited number of special edition t-shirts created by students from Barnstone Art for Kids are also available at the Phantom Phamily Fund link listed below.

Donate to Phantom Phamily fund which is specifically for our PASD students who would otherwise be unsheltered overnight to have a temporary hotel stay. We are partnering with Ann's Heart to ensure that our families have a safe place to stay.

Home & School Visitors Alyson Riffey and Stacey Myers will be visiting elementary classrooms to read books with themes of food insecurity and homelessness and host discussions about how students and families can support each other throughout our community.

Manavon/PAELC are collecting boxed cereal and will participate in a Cereal Box Domino Run on Thursday, November 21.

Barkley Elementary students will be creating greeting cards to accompany the Thanksgiving meals that will be distributed to over 500 families through Ann's Heart.

Schuylkill Elementary is collecting toiletry items to be donated to PACS.

PAMS is collecting warm clothing items to be donated to the Code Blue Shelter.

PAHS is collecting canned food items to be donated to PACS.
