Occupation Tax

The Occupation Tax is an Act 511 tax authorized by the Pennsylvania State Legislature many years ago to relieve the school tax burden from resting solely on property owners.  For more information about this tax and the assessments which were recently mailed to PASD residents.

FAQ's Phoenixville Occupational Assessment and Per Capita Taxes

PERSONAL TAX INFORMATION
The Phoenixville Area School District outsources the collection of personal tax bills to Keystone Collections Group.
 
Per Person/Per Capita taxes 
Issued to any person age 18 or older who resides in the Phoenixville Area School District. This tax does not matter if you own, rent or have a child attending the Phoenixville Area School District.
 
Occupation Assessment taxes 
Issued to any person who is working, this tax is based on an individual’s job title.  If you wish to appeal this tax, please fill out this Occupational Appeal Form.
 
Personal Taxes Due Dates
In order to receive the discounted 2% from the face value of your tax bill, payments must be received from July 1 through August 31.
 
In order to receive the face value amount of your tax bill, payments must be received from September 1 through October 31.
A 10% penalty on the face amount is due on your tax bill for payments after October 31. 
 
Personal Tax Payment Instructions: 
  • Deadline for payment of all personal taxes is April 15.
  • Failure to pay will result in taxes being collected by a delinquent tax collector.
  • Occupation assessment can be appealed in writing on or before September 1.

Personal Tax Payment Instructions
  • Deadline for payment of all personal taxes is April 15. Failure to pay will result in taxes being collected by a delinquent
  • Bring this bill and the result sheet to the school tax office for correction of tax bill.
  • Personal exemption must be filed annually. Final date for tax exemption is April 15.
  • There is a $29.00 charge for returned checks.
  • Partial payments are not accepted.
  • Failure to receive bill does not entitle owner to discount or remission of penalty on taxes.
  • The district requires an original tax bill at the time of payment.

  • Only checks and money orders will be accepted. No cash allowed.
  • Payment copy must be returned with payment. 
  • If you would like a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with check and both copies of the bill.
  • Date of postmark determines amount accepted.
  • Postdated checks are not accepted.
  • A stamped receipt is not valid until check has cleared.
