Immunization Requirements

The Pennsylvania School Code requires that all children be properly immunized prior to the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. As of this time, the staff in your child’s health room have not received documentation that all immunizations have occurred.

There has been a notable statewide decline in documented immunizations that correlates with a marked rise in communicable diseases that had previously been under control. This data is concerning and particularly presents a community wide health risk to school age children.

Pennsylvania law allows your child to be provisionally enrolled in school if parents have a plan to complete the required immunization. This provisional enrollment will end on January 5, 2024. If the school nurse has not received verification of immunization, your child will be excluded from school until you can show this documentation. Attendance in school is vital for a child’s academic, social, and emotional success, however the state law is very clear about this exclusion and the provisional enrollment period. Please find the PA Department of Health vaccination requirements.

It is recommended that you contact your child’s physician to update your child’s vaccination schedule. Other locations that offer child vaccinations include:

You may submit your child’s proof of vaccination, plan to update vaccinations, or Medical/Religious Exemption from Immunization Request to the Certified School Nurse for your child’s school via email or hardcopy sent to the school.

If you believe that you have submitted the proper documentation for your child’s immunizations, please contact the school nurse.  You may also check your child’s vaccine information in Skyward. When you login, select “health info” from the left hand menu. Then select “display options” and choose “immunization records.” Otherwise, please contact the school nurse to let them know how you plan to comply with this requirement.
