School Walking Zones link to view the walking zone maps for each school. Pennsylvania state law in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education has established a 1.5 mile radial boundary for school walking zones. Please note that kindergarten students MUST have an approved adult meet them after school. If a sibling is going to escort the student, parents must provide this information in the comments section in Pick Up Patrol when establishing your Default Plan. You may also choose to provide transportation for your child.
New Walking Zone Assignments for PAELC/Manavon
***Please note, recently redistricted students at PAELC and Manavon Elementary Schools may now be in the walking zone. Please check the above maps to verify if your residence falls into the walking zones.
A crossing guard will be stationed at the intersection of W. Bridge Street and Chester Ave. Students are recommended to proceed up Chester Avenue to the Middle School walking path on City Line Avenue located between the District Administration Office and the Middle School. (Figure 1) Follow the path to the bus loop of PAELC/Manavon facing the PAMS parking lot. Utilize the sidewalks to cross and take extra precautions when traveling through the PAMS parking lot.[CN1] Staff will cross students across the bus loop from a pickup point on the sidewalk. (Figure 2) Afternoon pickup will be at that same location. Drivers should enter the Manavon lot from Pothouse Road if picking up by car. Regardless of dismissal procedure, your child’s Default Dismissal Plan should be entered into Pick Up Patrol once the site goes live for the new school year. More information regarding dismissal procedures and Pick Up Patrol will be sent in a future communication from the building administration.
