In PASD, assessments are used to measure progress for the individual student and to assist in providing the appropriate learning opportunities.
These assessments include:
• Exact Path Math, Reading, and Language Arts – used in grades K through High School Geometry and English 10 as a diagnostic, formative assessment of student progress. The software also provides personalized learning opportunities for students to work on in between diagnostic assessments. We recommend 45 minutes per subject, per week for student utilization.
• Classroom Diagnostic Tools (CDT) – provided by PDE, this software is used in secondary science classrooms as a diagnostic assessment.
• Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment – Used in grades K-5, this assessment is administered 1-1. It provides a teacher a window into a student’s reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
• Other assessments are used as needed, depending on a student’s programming (Leveled Literacy Intervention, DIBELS, math or reading running records, etc.)
The Pennsylvania state assessment system also has state mandated testing which includes the
Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) and the
Keystone Exams.
